Limited laser surgery refers to minor soft-tissue procedures that support orthodontic treatment, rather than surgery on the jaw bone itself. It is often used when gum tissue needs gentle reshaping so an appliance can be placed correctly or so treatment can continue to move smoothly toward a healthier bite.

When It May Be Recommended

• Tissue Covering an Appliance — excess gum tissue sometimes needs to be gently uncovered so a bracket or attachment can be bonded properly.
• Bite Alignment Support — reshaping gum tissue around a surface can help an appliance track more comfortably during treatment.
• Restrictive Tissue Bands — a tight band of tissue limiting jaw or lip movement can sometimes be addressed with a brief laser procedure.
